Real Wedding: Kate Said Yes
I’m so lucky to be able to share this beautiful Jamaican wedding with you! Tasha and Chad were married January 16 in Montego Bay on a private beach. How romantic!Says Tasha, “My biggest inspiration for our wedding was ethereal, flow, glamour, but simplicity. Sounds contradictory, but that’s exactly how it turned out to be. Nature was the canvas, and I just added the sparkling touches. I love sparkle, so my table runners, sash, bouquet, everything had an element of sparkle to it.”
“The thing that I remember most about the wedding was the fact that it just felt so right. I was so worried about the details of our day not being perfect, but when I saw him down the aisle, the anxiousness melted away. I teared-up before I even got a glimpse of him – when I saw him, it was just like I was in a dream, it was so perfect. I sort of felt like, after that moment, I’ve lived a wholesome life.”
“My advice to other brides is, it’s just one day. I understand it’s the moment that every little girl dreams of, but it’s just one day. If you’re young, and you have the chance to elope, and just use the money for a down payment on a house instead of a $50k wedding. Do it! Let the moment be about you two. You can’t make everyone happy, unfortunately, so you two should be the ones that are happy. Also, just remember life happens, nothing will ever be perfect, don’t stress about it, and certainly don’t have a fit about it. There are bigger things in life to worry about.”
How lovely is that? Wonderful advice, and a wonderful day. You can tell how happy and in love Tasha and Chad are – it radiates through their photos. Thank you so much, Tasha and Chad, for sharing your big day with us!Inspiration Friday: Black and White Damask
As popular as Damask themed weddings are today, history defines Damask patterns as the linens of royalty. Damask is one of the basic weaving techniques founded by the Byzantine and Islamic weaving centers of the Middle Ages and is believed to have derived its name from Damascus, Syria. Today’s designers and brides seeking elegance and luxury, still agree with history – Damask design weddings and are a favorite among brides, so Karen of ItTopsTheCake has put together this beautiful Damask themed inspiration board curated from items made by Etsy Wedding Team members.

Picking Your Perfect Wedding Day Flowers
We asked Kate of KateSaidYes for her expert opinion on picking your perfect wedding day flowers. Read on to hear what she had to say and be sure to check out her Etsy shop if you are considering silk and real touch flowers for your big day!
The flowers you use on your wedding set the stage for the tone of your day. Formal and elegant? Bright and cheerful? Vintage chic? There are different flowers for every theme, and for the newly engaged bride, the choices can be overwhelming.
Start with the theme and location of your wedding. What are your wedding colors? Certain stems only come in specific colors, so if you have your heart set on peonies, you aren’t going to get them in blue. Roses and calla lilies are great for more formal weddings, orchids and succulents fit in with tropical destinations, and daisies, hydrangeas, and lavender are perfect for outdoor and country weddings.
Cost is also a big factor when choosing your wedding flowers. Hydrangeas are large, so they give you more bang for your buck. Daisies, roses, carnations, and calla lilies are on the more affordable end of the spectrum, while orchids and peonies will have you spending more. And of course, if you are buying out of season, always expect the cost to be higher.
Silk and real-touch flowers are a great alternative to live stems, as the colors can be a bit more customized, you don’t need to worry about anyone in your bridal party with allergies, and they are more cost-effective. And as an added bonus, they last forever. No more tossing your bouquet in the trash before you leave for your honeymoon!
Still feeling stuck? Your florist or wedding planner can give you advice as to the best flower selection for your theme and budget. Your flower arrangements don’t need to be large and overflowing – often a simpler, more petite arrangement will complement your dresses and venue just as well as expensive arrangements. Have fun with your flowers, and remember – whichever stems you use, they will always remind you of your big day!
