How I got into weddings: While browsing the internet one day, I stumbled across a wedding invitation website. They weren’t your traditional wedding invitations (you know, envelope in an envelope, 5 random cards, embossed, etc.). I knew that I could design invitations similar to those, so I started experimenting, and the rest is history!
What is your favourite part of a wedding day? The reception dance!
Best piece of advice you’d give to brides and grooms? Slow. Things. Dowwwnnnn… Consciously slow things down on your wedding day. I was given this advice and it really helped! The day will fly by SO freaking fast!!! If you can do your best to soak things in as their happening, it’ll help you better remember the day. <3
What us your dream destination? Italy – I love all of the historical artifacts and artwork.

Mavora Art and Design

Mavora art and design is a little corner of the world that’s all mine. I created my brand and my products from scratch and I get to make just about anything I want (time permitting!). My team and I work from a small home office packed with custom paper shelving made by my handy husband. We may be a small business but we really pack a punch!

What is your name? Laurel Goodroe
Where do you call home? Portland, OR
How old is your business? 9 years
What’s your speciality? Wedding Stationery
Location or coverage of your service / products? Worldwide
How I got into weddings: I didn’t start in weddings but as I noticed there was a need on Etsy for good wedding stationery (8 years ago) I headed in that direction and taught myself the ropes. The wedding industry helped me provide for my family while my husband went back to school. For which, I am very thankful!
Best piece of advice you’d give to brides and grooms? Don’t forget your wedding favors until the last week! They are an important thank you gift that can share a lot of your personality and a lot of your love to your guests. And if you don’t have time for tie a million little bows choose an easy favor like something pre-made or something your guests make themselves – like a popcorn or candy buffet!
What is your dream travel destination? I probable won’t be traveling anytime soon but mark my words – the husband and I will see Iceland!
